Our Admissions Office is committed to giving each application personal attention and care as it is a critical decision for the student and their family.

Application Procedure

APIS follows rolling admissions policies. This means that the application process will end when available enrollment spots are filled. There is a clear advantage of applying early. Please refer to the application procedure below.

  1. STEP 1
    Determine Eligibility

    Please check your eligibility category and the grade/age eligibility chart.

    • Eligibility category chart

      In order to attend a foreign (international) school in Korea, the applicant must satisfy one of the following four categories of eligibility set forth by the Korean Ministry of Education :

      Category 1

      A student who has at least one parent holding a valid foreign passport.

      Category 2

      A student who is a Korean citizen (including dual citizen) and has lived overseas for a minimum of three years (1,095 days).

      Category 3

      A student who is transferring from an accredited international school in Korea.

      Category 4

      A student who has 6 semesters of official school transcripts (report cards) and certificate of enrollment from an overseas school.

      Category 5

      A student who has a naturalized, non-ethnic Korean parent(s) who is deemed unable to continue education in the local school system, as determined by the deliberation of the school.

  2. STEP 2
    Complete and Submit Documents

    Please gather all of the following documents for submission.

    - Fully completed application Form
    - 4 recent photos (3cm × 4cm)
    - Copies of student and parents’ valid passports
    - Copies of student’s Birth Certificate and/or Certificate of Korean Family Registry
    - Eligibility Proof Documents

      Category 1

      A student who has at least one parent holding a valid foreign passport.
      - Copy (Front and Back) of Parent(s)’ Alien Registration Card
      - Copy of student’s birth certificate and/or Korean Family Registry

      Category 2

      A student who is a Korean citizen (including dual citizen) and has lived overseas for a minimum of three years (1,095 days).
      - Official Certificate of Entry and Exit (If the applicant has dual citizenship, a certificate of entry and exit for each passport is required.)
      - Korean Family Registry

      Category 3

      A student who is transferring from an accredited international school in Korea.
      - Certificate of Enrollment
      - Students admitted to international schools prior to February 6, 2009, must submit proof of documentation that the above eligibility is still valid.

      Category 4

      A student who has 6 semesters of official school transcripts (report cards) and certificate of enrollment from an overseas school.

      Category 5

      A student who has a naturalized, non-ethnic Korean parent(s) who is deemed unable to continue education in the local school system, as determined by the deliberation of the school.
      - Korean Family Registry
      - Original Identification Certificate (기본증명서) of the parent(s)
      - Original letter issued by the Principal of the local school confirming the deliberation of the Operations Committee

      Official Transcripts or Report Cards
      - Elementary School- Most recent TWO years are required.
      - Middle and High School- Most recent THREE years are required.

      * Note: Transcripts and recommendation letters in a language other than English must be translated to English and the original must be submitted along with the translation. For high school transcripts, the translation must be notarized.

      Official Recommendation Letters
      - Elementary School- ONE recommendation letter.
      - Middle and High School- TWO recommendation letters.

      * Note: Official results from the most recent standardized tests (e.g. Stanford 10, ITBS, Terra Nova, CAT, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT) where applicable. No document is returned under any circumstances.

  3. STEP 3
    Submit Application Fee

    The non-refundable application fee of KRW 300,000 is required. Once the documents are submitted, please transfer via wire the application fee to KB Bank (Jangwi-dong Branch). Please indicate the applicant’s name as a sender.

  4. STEP 4
    Application Review

    Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Office first. Once the applicant’s eligibility is verified, the admissions office will schedule an interview (either in person or via Skype) as well as an admissions test date. The applicant will be notified about the admission decision within 7-10 business days.

  5. STEP 5
    Registration

    Applicants who have received acceptance will be contacted to complete the enrollment process. Tuition and fees must be paid in full amount to proceed with the applicant’s enrollment process.
